An Interior Design Company located in Tempe is seeking a Controller/Financial Analyst who can handle all cycles of accounting and understands debits and credits in addition to budgeting as well at profit margin analysis.. Individual should be very organized, dependable, and professional. Prior employment history in the construction industry is highly preferred.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Analysis of current accounting system and determination of how to proceed to accomplish goals
  • Coordinate operational and project budgets, weekly forecasts and analyze variances against budget and prior month’s forecast
  • Profit margin analysis for overall company on regular basis and for jobs at closing
  • Reconcile job cost and general ledger accounts
  • Ongoing maintenance of the Work-In-Process (“WIP”) schedule and resolving job over-billings
  • Prepared financial statements and supporting documentation according to monthly schedule
  • Forecast cost analysis
  • Development of expense budgets
  • Reconciled balance sheet and income accounts - cash, credit cards, AR, AP, sales tax returns, payroll suspense and etc.
  • Assist in preparation of income tax returns for multiple entities
  • Manage implementation of new accounting processes and make suggestions regarding process improvements and implementation of new systems
  • Communicate with management on ways to cut costs and reduce overages
  • Monitor cash flow of the construction entities and prepare weekly cash flow forecasts

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Must have obtained at least a 4-year accounting degree. CPA or Masters preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years residential construction accounting experience preferred
  • Understanding of QuickBooks – current accounting software
  • Collaborative team player with strong intellectual skills.
  • Hands-on management style that can work in a fast-paced growth environment.
  • Strong Organization Skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have strong Leadership skills and ability to work with little direction.
  • Must have high degree of Integrity
  • Must be able to understand Management Accounting

Benefits offered:

  • ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Health and Dental Insurance (Creative License pays 50% for the employee).
  • Ten days paid vacation and five sick days paid per year and paid major holidays. Candidate will be eligible for insurance after 60 days of continuous employment and accrued vacation/sick benefits after 90 days of continuous employment.

Candidate will be eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan after one year of continuous employment with the company. Creative License matches $.50 per $1.00 invested up to 6% of employee’s annual salary.
