The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the overall development and delivery of the company’s financial statements and various other information. This position will assist the Controller with coordinating, maintaining, and controlling all financial tasks for the company. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the oversight of daily operation of the accounting department and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage accounts receivable, construction billing, and help push positive cash flow.
  • Prepare and input standard month-end journal entries including accruals.
  • Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries
  • Maintains historical records by scanning, and filing documents.
  • Manage accounts payable, processing all payments to vendors in a timely manner.
  • Input and support our monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliations including bank accounts.
  • Support annual financial audit by preparing workpapers as needed.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements under IFRS standards.
  • Assist in other tasks as assigned.
  • In this capacity the assistant controller will be in charge of the financial aspects of a related company.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and/or CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 3yrs of public accounting experience, or 5-7yrs of Accounting Management role
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Prior GL Accountant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles required
  • Prior experience with SAP Business One - Advantage.
This position will be in Houston for at least one year.  Depending upon the additional contracts that the company is awarded, the position may stay in Houston for one or two more years but, eventually , it will move to Miami.
