A $50 MM manufacturing & distribution client located in The Woodlands seeks to hire a Controller to lead the accounting department and build the processes and procedures of the business so that the “back office” administrative and control functions meet the “best of class” standards that have driven the growth of product sales, customer service and profitability.
The Controller will report directly to the CFO and indirectly to business unit leaders.
Controller Responsibilities:
Lead accounting staff (4 people) and financial function:
- Prepare and review income statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows on a monthly basis,
- Develop and review monthly variance analysis and key performance indicators from financial statements. Develop and review daily/weekly key performance items.
- Manage and supervise accounting staff in A/P, A/R, Purchases, Inventory and Payroll.
- Review and improve accounting procedures and MIS systems to ensure accurate and complete accounting and recording keeping for company transactions for GAAP, taxes and management analysis/decision making.
- Evaluate departmental/company performance and make recommendations to improve accounting/MIS systems and procedures.
- Provide direction, training and guidance to employees to ensure accounting procedures and processes are performed in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications for the position:
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting and a CPA (or pursuing CPA).
- Experience working in a public accounting firm.
- 5+ years of related accounting experience.
- Eager to learn with excellent communication skills.
