Controller
This position will provide full oversight of accounting including Financial Reporting, Revenue, AP and JIB functions for a newly acquired business. This role will focus heavily on acquisition integration and system integration, process improvements and troubleshooting. Attributes for success in this position will require a hands-on, detailed, problem-solver with extensive upstream or offshore drilling experience. This key role is highly visible for the organization and will report directly to the CFO.
Position Details
- Full oversight of financial reporting, operational GL accounting, accounts payable, JIB, and revenue functions
- Own the monthly financial close process and work directly with operational accounting groups and across the Company’s departments to ensure a timely and accurate financial close
- Maintain and improve processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Managing and mentoring function Supervisors and their direct reports
- Managing month end close processes for assigned functions and ensure monthly close binder is properly notated with complete/approved tasks
- Driving process improvements for efficiencies
- Identify roadblocks and proactively address issues
- Review and improve processes around oil and gas accounting
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 15-20+ years of directly related upstream accounting or offshore drilling experience required
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Active CPA license required
- Must thrive in a fast-paced, unstructured, always-evolving environment
- Must be deadline focused and work with strong sense of urgency
- Demonstrate a proven track record of process improvements especially as it pertains to acquisition integration
- Experience in Excalibur (including Finsubs/Essbase), DocVue, AFE Navigator, Assent and Mobius applications strong preferred, with strong emphasis on system integration/implementation experience
- Experience in accounting under Full Cost at an exploration and production company
