Medical Cannabis Company in San Diego is in need of a Controller to start immediately. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who can work in a fast-paced, autonomously-driven, and demanding environment. You will be working closely with the CFO to prepare to take the company public and lead the charge standardize accounting procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing all General Ledger and Subsidiary transactional reporting and integrity
  • Standardize accounting procedures, create balance sheet schedules, reconciliations, month end, etc.
  • Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly.
  • Manage company’s first audit
  • Oversee/manage cash flow forecasts, monthly bank reconciliations, and satisfactory handling of all payable obligations/discounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Ensure monthly financial statements including balance sheets and profit and loss statements are completed
  • Analyze monthly results versus budget and investigate significant variances. Suggest corrective actions as appropriate
  • Monitor debt schedules and proper classifications.
  • Oversee/Monitor compliance with local and state government reporting requirements and tax filings including but not limited to payroll tax, sales tax, use tax, business fees etc.
  • Establish and monitor processes to record, verify and report the value of company’s assets, liabilities, debts and expenses.
  • Work with Executive team to create, monitor and test policies and guidelines to keep its affiliates in compliance with all government regulatory agencies.

Experience Requirements:

  • 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in manufacturing  industry accounting departments
  • Accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • Ability to bring structure to controlled chaos in a fast-paced, ever-changing, start-up environment
  • Prior experience with a public company, experience with IPO preferred
