Role Overview:  Our client located in the Chicago Loop is seeking a Contract Compensation & Benefits Specialist for a 6-month project. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role has key responsibility for managing day-to-day activity within the Compensation & Benefits programs, as well as supporting annual processes and ad hoc projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Compensation Management

  • Coordination of payroll programs for all AFUS locations.

  • Reporting- weekly, monthly, annually including accounting reports, headcounts, KPI’s, EEOC reporting and ad hoc reporting as needed.

  • Serves as resident wage and hour expert

  • Communicate policies related to compensation and ensure federal/state compliance is maintained.

  • Acting as an internal advisor on all projects/initiatives with a compensation & benefits impact involving interaction with staff at all levels from production staff to executive leaders.

Benefit Management

  • Responsible for management of benefits portfolio (health, life insurance, disability, FMLA, and 401(k) plans) for all our client's benefit programs.

  • Responsible for the management of all open enrollment and policy renewal processes.

  • Management of broker program.

  • Responsible for ensuring all benefit programs are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations which includes filing of all required reports, Form 5500 for all required plans.

  • Responsible for all communication to employees regarding benefit program details, changes, etc.

  • Handle and resolve employee questions and issues relating to benefit programs.

  • Process premium payments for all benefit providers monthly.

  • Update the benefits schedule for accounting with participant and headcount data monthly.

  • Process all employee benefits enrollments and terminations.

  • Regularly audit plans to ensure compliance in employee and participant enrollment.

  • Serves as a leader for Wellness Initiative for the AFUS.

HRIS System Administration

  • Ensure data is updated into the system on an ongoing basis meeting business needs.

  • Ability to research data issues and determine appropriate guidance.

  • Updated SPD, handbooks, information available to employees in the Ulti-pro system.

  • Serve as the resident expert for plant HR on system usage.

  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives for system upgrades.
