We have partnered with our client in their search for a Commercial Real Estate Litigation Paralegal to go onsite 4 days a week in White Plains, NY.
Responsibilities
- Organize exhibits for pleadings
- Conduct legal research
- Electronically file documents with court on NYSCEF and ECF
- Prepare correspondence and send courtesy copies to court
- Serve documents on parties
- Schedule process server for service of documents
- Bate-stamp and redact documents for production on docs corp
- Prepare pleadings binder for case files
- Organize research, attorney notes and client documents for file
- Maintain litigation case calendar
- Prepare pleadings such as subpoenas, restraining notices, information subpoenas, notice of entry, notice of appeal, request for judicial intervention, notice of appearance, notice of electronic filing
- Organize documents for trials
- Prepare trial binders for attorney
- Administrative duties - scan documents for attorneys, organize attorney working documents
- Travel to court to file documents
- Maintain and organize electronic and hard copy filing systems.
- Draft correspondence and other materials as requested, respond to written and verbal inquires
- Type, prepare and proofread legal and other documents
Skills Required
- Strong administrative, organizational and time management skills
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Systematic knowledge of databases and tracking systems
- Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be a self-starter, take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) with the ability to learn new or updated software
- Proficient in Document Management software a plus.
Education & Work Experience
- At least five (5) years of related experience
- Must possess at minimum an Associate degree in legal studies or a Paralegal Certification
