Title: Cloud Architect
Location: Remote w/ 10-50% travel to client site during contract

Compensation: $75-$85/hr.
We have partnered with our client in their search for a Cloud Architect. The Cloud Architect designs the Microsoft Government Community Cloud High (GCC High) target architecture across identity, network, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Microsoft 365, and secure cloud infrastructure. The role partners with engineering, network, security, and implementation teams to translate architecture standards into deployable patterns for highly regulated government and defense contracting environments. Success is measured by secure architecture approval, compliance readiness, implementation alignment, and reliable user access across the target environment.
Responsibilities
- Design the Microsoft Government Community Cloud High target architecture across identity, network, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft 365, and cloud infrastructure
- Develop secure architecture patterns for account provisioning, access management, endpoint readiness, and tenant integration
- Establish scalable cloud infrastructure standards aligned to government and defense contracting compliance requirements
- Define enterprise security architecture controls for identity, network segmentation, privileged access, and data protection
- Partner with engineering, network, security, and implementation teams to align architecture decisions with business and compliance requirements
- Guide technical teams through implementation to ensure deployed solutions match approved architectural blueprints
- Review architecture deliverables, configuration decisions, and deployment plans for security, scalability, and operational readiness
- Document target-state designs, architecture standards, implementation patterns, risks, and decision records
Skills Required
- Microsoft Government Community Cloud High architecture for regulated or sensitive data environments
- Azure Government design experience across identity, infrastructure, networking, and security services
- Microsoft 365 architecture, tenant readiness, secure access, and integration planning
- Microsoft Entra ID configuration, identity governance, authentication, authorization, and role-based access control
- Identity and access management architecture for enterprise cloud environments
- Azure Virtual Desktop design, deployment patterns, security controls, and operational readiness
- Enterprise networking architecture, including routing, segmentation, secure connectivity, and cloud integration
- Security architecture standards for highly regulated government or defense contracting environments
- Technical leadership across architecture, engineering, network, and security teams
- Clear documentation of architecture blueprints, standards, risks, and implementation guidance
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, systems engineering, or a related field
- Extensive cloud architecture experience with enterprise Microsoft cloud environments, including Azure Government and Microsoft 365 GCC High
- Experience designing secure architectures for regulated, government, or defense contracting environments
- Ability to access sensitive client data in a Microsoft GCC High environment, requiring U.S. citizenship
