CHIEF DATA & ANALYTICS OFFICER
An established financial services organization is seeking an experienced Chief Data & Analytics Officer on an interim basis to help mature a growing team and drive projects forward. The Chief Data & Analytics Officer will lead a newly built enterprise data and analytics organization to ensure business continuity and continue to drive momentum on existing priorities. Primary strategic focuses are around scaling and maturing a young data engineering and analytics team to expand our Enterprise Data Warehouse and build out new and impactful GenAI capabilities to expand data capture and automate route processes. The ideal candidate will be able to rapidly assess the existing landscape, ensure critical operations run smoothly, and lead scaling and capability building across data, analytics, governance, and AI. The Interim CDAO will also be accountable for ensuring a smooth and structured handover to the permanent leader, including documentation, transition planning, and knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities:
- Provide executive leadership for data, analytics, and AI efforts during a period of transition and capability building
- Assess team maturity, processes, platforms, and execution, making pragmatic decisions aligned with the current enterprise strategy
- Build and scale immature teams, establishing foundational operating models, processes, and delivery discipline.
- Facilitate prioritization across stakeholders with competing objectives, driving alignment on near-term and mid-term goals
- Negotiate effectively with IT, engineering, cybersecurity, and architecture teams to balance business needs with technical constraints
- Lead structured discussions around tradeoffs, ensuring transparent decision-making and clear communication of impacts
- Thrive in ambiguity by bringing structure, clarity, and practicality to unstructured or evolving challenges
- Escalate issues appropriately, ensuring leadership has visibility into risks, roadblocks, and major dependencies
- Ensure a thorough, well-documented transition and handoff, including operating procedures, project statuses, and strategic recommendations
Requirements:
- Experience in an executive or leadership role in a dynamic data driven organization
- Seeking a builder / fixer within growing data organizations
- Has the experience, discipline and diligence to make efficiencies to the team and know risks and limitations to be aware of
- Identify opportunities for upskilling and training by utilizing Scrum processes/delivery methods
- Firm up the current data warehouse environment
- Identify opportunities within GenAI to add to the current environment
- Explore high-impact, low-hanging AI opportunities without a set playbook, favoring theory-driven tinkering, autonomy, and experimentation
- A track record of turning modern data platforms into business impact
- Strong background in governance
- Experience in the insurance industry
