Our client, a fintech startup, is seeking a Banking Operations Leader to build and lead the operational foundation of a rapidly growing financial organization. This is a hands-on role for a leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and enjoys creating scalable processes from the ground up. The role will own end-to-end banking operations, including payments, compliance, reconciliations, and the management of partner bank relationships.
This is a W2 hourly interim opportunity through Korn Ferry and will requires 1-2 days onsite in the Palo Alto, CA area.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Setup & Infrastructure:
Design and build core banking operations processes and infrastructure
Establish scalable workflows to support growth
Payments & Transaction Management:
Oversee payment operations across banking rails (ACH, wires, cards, etc.)
Ensure accurate, timely transaction processing
Compliance & Risk Management:
Partner with compliance and risk stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
Support audits, controls, and risk mitigation efforts
Reconciliation & Financial Controls:
Own daily reconciliations and exception management
Implement strong financial controls and reporting processes
Customer Operations & Support:
Support customer-facing operational processes as needed
Ensure high service levels and issue resolution
Process Optimization & Automation:
Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve operational workflows
Implement tools and processes that scale efficiently
Bank & Partner Relationship Management:
Serve as the daily operational point of contact for banking partners
Manage onboarding processes, reporting, and ongoing partner communications
Take a hands-on, "roll-up-your-sleeves" approach to operational problem-solving
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong understanding of banking rails (ACH, wires, cards, etc.)
Experience in banking operations, finance, and/or payments
Strong grasp of compliance, risk, and operational controls
Comfortable with ambiguity, rapid change, and startup-style environments
Experience building operational processes from zero and scaling them
Demonstrates a hands-on, execution-focused leadership style
Compensation: $100/hr. - $120/hr. W2
Location: 1-2 days on site near Palo Alto, CA and the remainder remote
