Lucas Group is partnering with an established, global company to find an Assistant GC, who will be the number 2 person to the GC. The main responsibilities would be working on Commercial Contracts, RFP's and vendor agreements. Your internal clients will be Presidents’ of business divisions and sales people. This attorney must be able to able to work collaboratively as well as independently. The region will cover US, Mexico and Canada. This attorney must have strong presentation skills and be able to come up with creative solutions, if something cannot be done. This position can sit in NYC or Northern NJ. There is also potential within the next 5 years to head the legal division for the Americas. The company offers a base salary, bonus and excellent benefits. Requirements and qualifications:

  • JD degree from an accredited top-tier law school
  • Must be a member in good standing of a State Bar.
  • Must have 5+ years or more legal experience with 3+ years of law firm experience.
  • Knowledge of: (i) Corporate and commercial law; (ii) Understanding legal issues and assessing and managing business and legal risks; (iii) Counselling senior management and a track record of providing value added business advice in additional to legal advice; (iv) Aspects of merger and acquisition transactions including due diligence, contract drafting and negotiation and integration issues; and (v) regulatory and compliance issues is required.
  • Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to find practical, creative, and cost-effective solutions to legal problems.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in making decisions and interact effectively and positively with all levels of the Company.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work in fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and at a consistent pace.
  • Inquisitive nature, resourceful, and ability to seek out information.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project).
