Assistant Controller

This is a remote, W2 hourly interim position with Korn Ferry's client and will require working East Coast hours.

Our client, based in Washington, D.C., is seeking an Interim Assistant Controller with Deltek experience to support them through a period of transformation. The consultant will oversee core accounting functions including accounts payable, general ledger, and accounts receivable, while assisting the Controller with SOX implementation and ongoing compliance. This has a strong potential to turn into a permanent position with the client.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of A/P, A/R, GL, Treasury, and SOX compliance; manage staff scheduling, training, and performance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial close processes and act as the main contact for audits and operational issue resolution.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls, financial policies, and procedures; proactively address compliance gaps.
  • Collaborate across departments to support business initiatives and lead process improvements aligned with company values.


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-12 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Proven experience with Deltek Costpoint.
  • Experience in SOX within a larger company.
  • Background in Government Contracting with understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and CAS (Cost Accounting Standards).
  • Demonstrated success in leading large, cross-functional teams and driving performance.
  • Active CPA Certified, preferred.


Compensation: $70/hr. - $100/hr.
