The Lucas Group has partnered with our client on the North side of town that is seeking an accounting professional that will spend about half of their time processing the A/P and then the other half will be focused on Cost/manufacturing accounting. This is a full-time, contract opportunity with the potential for direct hire.
AP/Jr. Cost Accountant Responsibilities:
Inventory
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports, comparing planned costs to actual production costs
- Develop and maintain inventory analysis reports; analyze variances
- Assist in the development and maintenance of internal controls related to inventory
- Monitor inventory transactions; manage E&O schedules
- Reconcile inventory accounts to general ledger
- Conduct physical inventories, develop and maintain cycle count program
- Troubleshoot bill of materials issues that arise during invoicing
Month End Close & Reporting
- Prepare, analyze and report monthly gross margin by product family
- Reconcile sales and COGS accounts
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, including (but not limited to) inventory, sales and COGS
- Assist in Month end close of the General Ledger
- Prepare weekly sales order reports and distribute to sales team and management
- Prepare monthly commissions and provide reports to sales team and management
Fixed Assets
- Develop and maintain fixed asset reporting
- Perform fixed asset audits
- Prepare monthly depreciation schedules and journal entries
Other Responsibilities
- Assist in the budget process
- Support Corporate Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements
- Manage Accounts Payable: Enter AP invoices, process check runs, communicate with vendor
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
- 2-5 years of accounting experience (preferably working in a manufacturing environment)
- Prior experience in working in Accounts Payable is required
- Experience in an ERP system a plus. Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
