Lucas Group has been engaged by a privately owned $600M commercial construction company in Alpharetta looking to bring on an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller. This role will be the CFO’s right hand, and will manage 4 direct reports. This role offers a strong work life balance, and great employee benefits.
The Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller is responsible for providing oversight of all accounting and financial operations for the business. The role will provide management support services and includes collaborating with executive leadership, filed operations and corporate staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee day to day accounting processes, cash management, journal entries and support of financial statement creation
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts
- Directly manage 4 AP clerks
- Knowledge of lien waiver process, state laws surrounding construction
- Interprets construction related correspondence including but not limited to estimates, proposals, bids
- Assist in month end and year-end close activities, audit preparation and timely delivery of reports
- Ensures that all the construction regulations and standards are followed
- Create efficiencies in the Accounts Payable processes
- Support payroll processing
- Reviews project cost reports and monthly pay applications
- Performs other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 10- 20 years of accounting experience with a minimum of 5 years in the construction industry
- Vista by Viewpoint experience is required
- Experience working for a commercial general contractor required
- Must be highly proficient in Excel
- Management experience required
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
