Accounting Consultant (Closed)

Lucas Group has partnered with our client in on their search for an Accounting Consultant role 

Scope of Responsibilities:

1. Abila-MIP System Analysis – review our current use of Abila, including transactions, budget information, reports, etc. and work with Abila rep to determine whether Abila offers more functionality that we could add. The activities below are accounted for outside of Abila and we need to know if they can be added to the system to improve efficiency.

1. Investment activity
2. Restricted fund transactions – Net Assets
3. Fixed assets activity
4. Budget development
5. System Interface – determine whether we are maximizing interface opportunities and work with Abila rep to improve interface with other software, including –
   1. Donations and Grants – Razor’s Edge
6. Budget support – budget process starts this month and budget is due mid-April
   1. assist with aggregating department budget requests, updating budget assumptions and making calculations (if budget remains in excel)
7. Audit support – 
   1. Prepare audit schedules and assemble supporting documents
8. Financial reporting support –
   1. pull detailed statement of revenue and expenses for each program
   2. determine journal entry adjustments needed for the release of restricted funds and investment activity and prepare journal entries
   3. pull and review detailed statements after JEs are posted and analyze variances from budget
   4. pull and prepare statement of activities vs. budget and separate statement of activities vs. prior year and analyze variances from prior year

Skills Needed
Educational & Work Requirements:

• Accounting system expertise, preferably Abila MIP, and system integration experience
• Not-for-profit experience, preferable higher ed, and knowledge of restricted funds
• Financial statement preparation and analysis experience
• Budget development experience
• Audit support experience

• Degree: Bachelors Degree 
• CPA Preferred 
• Work Experience: 5 Plus years in Nonprofit Accounting
