SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Accountant will be directly responsible for assisting and supporting the corporate controller in the accounting activities. This includes, but not limited to, performing accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet accounts reconciliations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews all vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to AP processing
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues with Procurement
- Matches invoices to PO and review/approve GL coding for those invoices without PO
- Verify accuracy of open AP invoices before processing payments
- Prepare checks or wires in a timely manner with appropriate backup documentation
- Performs fixed assets accounting and responsible for fixed asset schedule
- Responsible for expense report management system
- Responsible for annual 1099 distribution and 1096s IRS filing
- Responsible for the reconciliation of general ledger and sub-ledger activities
- Performs month end closing activities
- Assist with annual financial audits
- Perform other duties & projects as assigned
EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED:
- At least 4 years of accountant experience
- Experience of working in accounts payable, expense report, month end closing
- Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner
- Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of account and corporate procedures
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Manufacturing industry experience is a plus
- Experience in a private equity environment is a plus
EDUCATION:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting
